Services

our services

At CIACH, we offer restoration and conservation services across a wide range of materials. Each project is approached with precision, sensitivity, and a deep respect for the cultural and historical value of the artwork.

Artworks, like all material objects, are vulnerable to the inevitable effects of time, environment, and human interaction. Factors such as natural aging, fungal growth, moisture infiltration, fire damage, and mishandling can all contribute to the deterioration of fine art. Our role as art conservators is to intervene with skill, sensitivity, and scientific precision to safeguard these cultural assets for future generations.

At our studio, conservation refers to the comprehensive care of an artwork—including both restoration, the process of returning a work as closely as possible to its original state, and preservation, which aims to prolong its life by protecting it from further damage.

Every artwork we treat is unique and demands a tailored approach that respects its material integrity, artistic intention, and historical significance. Our conservation process combines advanced scientific methods, art historical research, and skilled craftsmanship, ensuring that no intervention compromises the authenticity or aesthetic of the original work.

ART RESTORATION

We specialize in the meticulous restoration of artworks—reviving paintings, sculptures, murals, and heritage pieces affected by age, damage, or neglect. Our process preserves original integrity while enhancing visual clarity, using scientific techniques and reversible materials to ensure lasting protection and authenticity.

STAINED GLASS CONSERVATION

We conserve historic stained glass through careful cleaning, stabilization, and repair of broken or weakened sections. Using traditional techniques and compatible materials, we restore structural integrity and visual brilliance while respecting the original craftsmanship and design.

DEDICATION

M.N. MANIKANDAN, the be-all, and end-all of CIACH began his journey in the field of conservation and restoration in the year 1980. His vast and inspiring experience spanning over 30 years in the field of Painting, Objects of Art, and Monumental Conservation, has been integral in the establishment and growth of CIACH.

EXPERIENCE

Experience is what makes a good restorer the best. Sound knowledge in scientific methods is crucial to the process of restoration and preservation. Chemical studies conducted on various famous paintings and famous sculptures and other forms of artwork have helped us to study and understand the artists of different periods and the methods best suited for the art restoration.

WELL MANAGEMENT

The restorer is no less than an artist. Restoring old paintings and other artwork into their original form requires utmost precision. The restorer has to have a thorough awareness of the history and heritage of the work of art, the method employed by the artist, the mediums by which it is made and the concept it communicates.
