Wall Painting Conservation

Conserving the visual narrative of a place.

We conserve sacred and secular wall paintings in temples, heritage structures and public spaces through condition mapping, cleaning, pigment consolidation, infilling, retouching and environmental stabilisation.

Preserving site-specific artworks, reducing material loss and maintaining the visual narrative of the space.

Our Treatment

How We Conserve a Mural

  1. 01

    Study and mapping

We record the materials, condition and causes of damage across the whole surface.

  2. 02

    Surface cleaning

Dust and surface dirt are gently removed.

  3. 03

    Removing salts

Harmful salts are drawn out of the wall to slow further decay.

  4. 04

    Stabilising

Loose paint and plaster are secured in place.

  5. 05

    Filling and reintegration

Cracks are filled and lost areas carefully reintegrated with restraint.

  6. 06

    Environmental advice

We recommend changes around the artwork that help prevent future damage.
